I have been a pain sufferer for over 5 years now and have been stabilized for a few months now. I go to a Dr. Leof****’s office (Sorry I dont want to spread his name to possible ”seekers”) I am treated extremely well and taken care of in all ways. My thing is, I have a new job in Pomona, CA and the travel time is horrendous, I have to take HWY 74W to the 215NWFWY , then 215NW to the 60W, 60W to the 15 N, 15N to the 10W. All this takes about an hour and a half on a good day and I am finding it is destroying my back, more than it is able to heal. I need to move but I do not know which Dr to see. I have been told of 3 possibles, a Dr. Stad*** in San Dimas, Dr. Ten*** in West Covina and Dr Cost**** in Pomona. I have spoken with 2 and waiting to hear back from the other but I am really interested in hearing patient feedback, Ive been in this game long enough to know one doctor can be a million degrees off what another is like, at the present I am EXTREMELY fortunate, unfortunately that blessing is wearing thin. I am wondering if anybody knows of these pain doctors and can give a rating, or a testimonial of their bedside manner, availability when emergencies arise, etc,, etc., Obviously people will only know which Drs I am speaking of if they are already privvy.Again, I will not write full names because I am active in fighting the pain war and sadly kow too much about what criminal activity and those who claim to be in pain are doing to the rest of us who are legitimate. This is what makes it so difficult in finding out about other docs, as I am sure most everybody here knows whats up as well.
Well, this is a great site, I was a member a while back and used to love reading Siobhan’s latest campaign and hey Tami!!! How are you? I hope things are better than when I last saw you on here. Is Doc Alex still around a lot??? I noticed there was somethign that said there is no forum for NOOBs, so I am just cluster-f***ing everything I want to say right here…dont know if this is the right area, hell I dont know what Im doing half the time lol.
I look forward to being a member again.
Incidentally, Dr Cost**** would be closest to my new place of residence, followed by dr Stad*** I believe, then Dr Tenn***, I guess Dr C and Dr T have some sort of working relationship but I was told on the phone that my appts would be at his office in Pomona, and not when he is helpuing in W Covina.
Thanks guys.

That’s just an excuse for the anti-narcotics lynch mob. There is no reason why cigarettes, alcohol, coffee, aspirin and acetaminophen should be legal but not narcotics, including heroin. Of course, you are justified in concealing the name of your doctor from the bloodhounds of the DEA state regulatory boards.
By the way, heroin was originally prohibited because the Russel opium trust was losing its monopoly in the 1920s. At one time anyone could buy Bayer Heroin over the counter at any drug store, and the worst it could do is cause constipation.

Ian
Hi Ian,
I belive only the groups are working. It;s the only place I can postast but the actual forums are down. I also agree I think or at least for me I had better luck in getting some form of care although not the standard through a family Doc than I did from pain specialist
Take care,
Kim
Consider yourself fortunate. In WV family docs are in short supply. Mine who is part of the largest group in my city answer the phone with ”if you are a new patient who needs pain treatment, we do not prescribe opiates” I was in shock to hear that. I’m one of the lucky ones. I’d been with my doc for ten years before I needed treatment for degenerative disks. But no meds for nearly a year, 2 trips to Cleveland Clinic, seeing 4 specialists, xrays, MRI, painful nerve testing, and a visit to a.shrink, and only then would he prescribe pain meds. He referred me to one of the only 2 pain clinics. Had to wait 2 months to get in. Then the office wait was 5 hours. I had to endure a diskogram which is barbaric and full on human torture. Then endured 3 separate injections into my back done in out patient hospital over a period of 3 months which didn’t help at all. Plus even pain clinic wouldn’t prescribe pain meds. He made my fam doc take care of that. Without insurance I would have faced thousands of dollars for basically worthless tests and $1000 a pop for injections.I referred or rather tried to refer my best friend to my doc but he refused her as a patient due to her legit need for pain management. Her own quack of a doctor won’t treat her pain and won’t refer her to pain clinic. Regardless of insurance or not, one cannot get in a pain clinic without a doc referral. My adult son was hit by a car which rolled into him on a hill 9/09 and his appt with testing required prior to injections at pain clinic is still a month away! He had to quit his job as a personal trainer and drop out of EMS training until he can get his neck/shoulder injury addressed. No insurance. We’ve taken him in and it has cost us over $8000 for his med care so far. The $1000 per injection fees are still to come. Won’t mention paying all his bills. Lucky he doesn’t have a family which we’d be supporting too. My fam doc would not give him pain meds until last month. He had to see several specialists and go through expensive testing first. My point is that pain care here is nearly impossible to get and the wait time is outrageous. He’d not even have a doc without my having mine for nearly 20 years now because he came here from florida and being young + healthy didn’t need one. I had to beg my doc to take him due to pain issue. I know so many people/friends in pain (in our 50s) whose docs will not give pain meds. Pain is a disease and no docs want to touch it. It’s an epidemic. In my opinion doctors should be prosecuted for undertreating pain. Lawyers are, as usual, to blame too. Docs are running scared of DEA and lawsuits for fools who overdose and then blame docs. WV has a high rate of drug diversion and a high rate of drug addiction. The bottom line is people in pain are being victimized by being undertreated and forced to suffer beedlessly
