Siobhan Reynolds

Siobhan Reynolds was born and raised in Santa Monica CA. She graduated with a BA in Political Science from Pitzer College, one of the Claremont Colleges, and received her MA in Liberal Education from Saint John’s College in Santa Fe NM. Her Master’s degree, from the Actor’s Studio Program in New York City, is in Fine Arts.
Siobhan has worked as a college professor, acting coach, off-Broadway director, screenwriter, film director and producer. She is currently president of the Pain Relief Network, an organization committed to securing the rights of chronic pain patients and their doctors.
In the mid 1990’s, Ms. Reynolds found out about the lack of available pain care in the United States. After marrying Sean Greenwood, a man with an undiagnosed congenital connective tissue disorder called Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, Siobhan discovered that it was impossible to secure treatment for her husband. Following the eventual death of Greenwood in August of 2006, Siobhan reorganized the Pain Relief Network.

Hello There Ms. Reynolds. I read your story in the book “Pill Head” Very moving, im so sorry for your loss and the extremly frustrating circumstances. It really stuck out to me because our town Dr. is under investigation, he believes in quality of life and because of that he may lose his license and face charges, is no one safe?
I understand the anguish you went through for years. My pain killed my wife and gave me heart disease as well. There are so many people in denial when it comes to other peoples pain, but if it was there spouse or child see how mad they would be.I wanted to let you know that I have had three surguries and pain was never mentioned. The surgeons operate, fail, put you in intractable pain and send you away. Trying to get a doctor to treat you is almost impssible unless you go to a pain pill mill every month for 150 dollar fee for a piece of paper. They keep cutting your dose as the heat is put on them by the DEA and you then need two doctors to give you what you were getting in the first place. Then they call you a doctor shopper and want to cut you off entirely. My wife died 11/2 years ago and i am bringing up the last two of our five children on social security.I cry when they are not home from the pain i have and then act normal as i can when there home. although i know they see me suffering. If I did not have them I would have killed myself years ago.My children are keeping me alive and fighting. When law abiding citizens have to pay a pusher 15-20 dollars for a pain pill because he cannot get it through normal channels that is unaceptable. The government needs to stay out of the doctor business!
Siobhan,
This evening I signed up as a member. You have a really nice website. I see now that just reading these posts will tell me a lot about what’s being done to people.
Also, I watched your YouTube video, “I Didn’t Think It Was Real”. You are inspirational, and my goal is to work side-by-side with you to achieve the goals you have set.
I’m sorry to hear about the loss of your husband, and that he was in pain.
Thanks very much for having this organization,
and website,
more later, and donations when I can,

First of all – so sorry to hear about your co-founder sean’s death. how many will it take before they listen?when i was accidently directed to your page this morning – there was an open-forum discussion page i came to… the stories and compassion affected me so deeply, i was moved to join. now that i am here, i see the forum is closed, so i don’t know how i happened on it.i am glad i did however, because it brought up raw emotions of anger and feelings of injustice – probably excellent fodder to grow an activist ! i’m not sure what i can do at this point other than post my story and greet those who are joining at the same time… others are up at this time of morning, too !i know how busy you are – i don’t expect a reply ..i will just do what i know to do for now, until you post something that can direct this passion more effectively.thank you !lorna l thompson ( ‘doc’ is just a nickname)
